REVIEWS:
What more can I say about this place that have never been said yet? Hands down in my opinion one of the best burger in New York City in this price range. They flame broiled the patties here compared to the grilled one in Burger Joint Le Meridian and Shake Shack. I usually don’t put ketchup or mustard in my bun so that I can taste the true excellent quality of the meat. The service here is not always friendly but when you have to deal with hundreds maybe thousands of hungry patrons every day I guarantee you cannot put up that joker face too. I actually love the service here because this place is REAL. No pretentious people. No annoying wait staffs give you dirty looks if you order too little. If you are a billionaire and want a burger? Wait in line man! I like this No Bullshit attitude. Here’s the deal. Hamburger for $5.75, Cheeseburger for $6.00, Bistro Burger (Cheeseburger w/ Bacon) for $6.75, French Fries for $2.50. No frill. I ate two and a half burgers here one time and I cannot move. In my life I try Kobe beef burger, Avocado blue cheese burger, Elvis burger, Shogun Teriyaki Burger and all other random weird burgers and this place still is on my all-time favorite list. Classic, simple, no gimmick.
RANTS & RAVES:
TIPS: 1. They serve locally brew McSorley’s Ale (the oldest bar in NYC) (both light or dark) for $2.50 each. The same price as Bud or Bud Light. Why buy shitty beer when you can get the beer Abraham Lincoln got drunk with? 2. When you tell them to cook your burger rare or medium rare be prepared to get a burger with blood juice oozing out. 3. Every night after 7pm this place got packed like no tomorrow. Either come early or in the afternoon to enjoy this one last bohemian joint in West Village. 4. If you want a better quality burger here come at off-peak time. The burgers taste better when this place is not busy. 5. If you want great happy service and clean table this place is not for you. Go to places like Better Burger instead. Remember, this is an old tavern, not a Yuppie posh $15 cocktails place. 6. If you are visiting NYC, be sure to get good directions to here or you will get lost. This is West Village man! 7. Also No Plastics Here so load your wallet with cash before you come here and tip them well.
