REVIEWS:
El Rincon del Sabor is another hidden gem we stumble upon in the diamond district. Located on the 4th Floor in a commercial building with neighbors including International Polishing 30 Minute Service and small jewelry dealers, the journey going up the stairs is very interesting. I was holding my cheap ass camera and taking pictures of the stairs and at least two guys come to me and ask me if the camera is for sale. It seems that you can strike any deals here with any belongings you have :-) El Rincon del Sabor specializes in Ecuadorian food and only open for lunch Mondays to Saturdays. This is my first time having Ecuadorian cuisine and have no idea what it is supposed to taste like. We arrive around 2:15pm and 6 out of their 9 specials entrees are all sold out. BUMMER! The dude in front of me got the last big fat delicious looking Carne Asada De Res ($8)! Anyhow, I end up getting the Lomito Salteado (sautéed beef) for $7 and an Ecuadorian Apple flavor soft drinks. The big plate comes with great beans, rice, salad and French fries. The beef is very tender and season just right. The taste is not as strong as Cuban or Puerto Rican. Be sure to add the orangy color salsa, it greatly enhances the flavor.
