Where to begin I love this place the food, $8 pitcher for Kirin or Sapporo, free cotton candy at the end of a drunken night – it truly is the New York experience. Once you enter Kenka (means fight or argue in Japanese) you are transported into a whole new realm of reality, Japan style. Once you’ve entered into the izakaya (type of Japanese drinking establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks) one might notice that the seats and tables also have transformed into miniature size, and the next thing one might notice are all the servers yelling in Japanese. Not to worry most of them speak English and can help out with recommendations on food, beers and sake choices. I usually come here friends, out of towners, heck with who ever want to accompany me. The menu is huge, but don't be intimidated, so go with another hungry and adventurous eater and when I say adventurous I mean it. Kenka offers bull penis, and turkey balls not butterball – real turkey testicles. Some of my favorite dishes are the grilled mackerel, weird pancake with weirder sauce on it, Japanese curry (not spicy) and the salmon sashimi. Besides the food the beer is cheap and good. It is very probable that you’ll meet new friends /drinking buddies in this crazy world of izakaya, so if your looking for a good fun time tonight go to Kenka for some bulls penis and some beers.

RANTS & RAVES:

I forgot the most important part of the night once the bill comes it will be accompanied by little ramekins filled with pink colored sugar, don’t down the sugar take it outside and there your find a cotton candy machine. Just put the sugar in the center and grab a chopstick and go crazy. Also, if you can’t down a whole pitcher they also served it in ice cold mug- $1.50 each.
