EATERY:
Saigon Bakery
LOCATION:
138 Mott St (between Grand St & Hester St) New York, NY 10013
REVIEWS:
Saigon Banh Mi makes sandwiches against the back wall of a jewelry shop so if your looking for some new earrings and some chow this is the place for you. I always get the pork banh mi the bread comes crusty toasty and is overstuffed with bbq pork, cucumber, picked carrots, radish with light mayonnaise & sriracha sauce. I get it spicy which means they’ll put sliced jalapeno but maybe for the timid type ask for not spicy. The seating is very limited for the obvious reason of running a jewelry/sandwich shop so find a park near little Italy have a nice little picnic. We found a nice modest bench in front of Lombardi’s (located 32 Spring Street between Mott St & Mulberry St), we soaked in the sun drank our lovely ice coffee with the Banh Mi, the total came to 5 bucks, cant beat it!
RANTS & RAVES:
I recently found out that little bodega that I wrote about couple of weeks ago owned by Saigon Bakery; it's original location on Forsyth and Division literally underneath the Manhattan Bridge. http://cheapassfood.com/eats/show/182
