REVIEWS:
I stumbled into Buttercup Bake Shop after dinning at Morning Star Café, I have yet to have my sweet filling for the day so I walked for a fix. I wanted to hate Buttercup because it was a sister company of Magnolia Bakery in Greenwich Village, but they were easily the winner! The shop was brightly lit, cheerful, and smelled of baked goods. It was hard to choose with so many flavors, all the mini cakes were screaming at me to pick them and even though I got four, it was still a struggle to choose. Out of the 4 variations I chose from I loved the red velvet cake, not sure why it’s red but I thought I was delicious the cake dense like a real cake and the frosting was traditional velvety sweet frosting Iwith some saltiness in the background. I also favored the marshmallow topping with chocolate cake, the marshmallow was so gooey and fluffy went well with the dark semi sweet coco cake – perfect! Very moist, perfect balance of sweetness, and lots of traditional frosting. Pick anything off the self and you’ll be happy, I chose by color and loved everything.
