REVIEWS:
Not sure what all the fuss is about, I heard so many good things about Burritoville but I beg to differ. By definition tacos “ are a traditional Mexican dish comprised of a rolled, folded, pliable maize tortilla filled with an edible substance. A taco is normally served flat on a tortilla that has been warmed up on a comal; since the tortilla is still soft, it can be folded over or pinched together into a U-shape for convenient consumption. In the variant known as the taco dorado (fried taco), flauta (Flute in English, because of the shape), or taquito, the tortilla is filled with pre-cooked chicken or barbacoa, rolled into a cylinder and deep-fried until crisp.” wikipedia.org This was “edible”, fresh, and definitely cheap by all means however I felt like the FDA had some kind of a crack down on burritoville. All the meats are boiled, leaving the chicken and beef flavorless, dry (ironically) with a mealy consistency. Both shells hard and soft where middle of the road generic tortillas, filled with boiled meat, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. I ordered a meal so it came with brown rice and black beans also very healthy tasting yet hot with some nice hot elements.
RANTS & RAVES:
Definitely do not expect the traditional greasy, spicy, savory tacos one would expect at a taqueria in the Missions in SF. I know nothing compares to the delectable treats from the West Coast, and I hate to bring it up every time I review Mexican food, but once in awhile I would love to walk couple of blocks to fill my fix and not drag my ass to Brooklyn cheapassfood.com/eats/show/156 or Hells Kitchen cheapassfood.com/eats/show/56 . With that said if you’re looking for a health, low fat, low calorie, filling burrito/tacos w/out content they are very accommodating.
