REVIEWS:
So I have been eating out at least once a day, every day, and the last two Thai places I reviewed were so disappointing that I feel like I am loosing my touch. People I am losing my cheapDar! Couple of weeks ago I went to Kai Kai 131 Avenue A, for some cheap ass food with my friend Maltil, we went there after work, and ordered 5 different dishes. All where good, in a very non-authentic way – more generic, yes every thing was cheap, real cheap. For example I think we ordered 4 appetizers and one Pad Thai and it came to about $30 something. So I wanted to make a little comparson with some place that is know to be more traditional. Pongsri Thai restaurant on 106 Bayard Street has been newly renovated, and I have not been disappointed before so I thought I should review it for all you nice people. I ordered the Pad Thai so I could make a comparison with Kai Kai and unfortunately it was very disappointing. I didn’t even finish it, the pad thai came nicely dressed with shredded cabbage and some fresh bean sprouts but the chunks of peanuts where MIA as well as the flavor. All I could taste was sweetness and grease, no real mingling of textures one would find in each bite of a good pad thai - chewy noodles mixed with peanuts, bean sprouts and fishsauce. Needless to say or say I am sadden by my whole experiences, I need your help, am I losing my gift or just being a little dramatic? Maybe a little dramatic, however I must confess that before I starting reviewing for CheapAssFood I thought it was going to easy, simple and even pleasureable and it is. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, but sometimes a friend needs some help, so I am asking all you cheapass eaters of NYC to list all your favorite CheapAss Thai/ Pad Thai place in New York City, email me or just leave a comment right below. Thanks for all your help and lets keep eating!
