REVIEWS:
This is for all you midtown lunchers looking for some cheapass sushi. Sushi Ya meaning sushi place is located on 28 W 56th St b/t Fifth and Sixth Aves. This mellow semi contemporary eatery offers more or less a generic/ fusion on the classic sushi which some of you may or may not like. This is not for the deadhead sushi snob however this is a place to grab a quick and cheap eat on your lunch break. The dining rooms dim with some basic up to date style and dark-wood floors, the crowd is equally generic or mostly filled with business people. I started with a miso soup it came lukewarm and not so miso-y not a great start, my entrée crunchy spicy spider roll ($10) was very good but I thought came with too many sauces all the good soft shell crab flavor was lost in the mist of it all. Both red in color and spicy but one was a base made with Sriracha and the other sweet Korean red chili paste- in my book neither worked. So now we have 2 strikes, wanting to give it another chance I ordered white tuna ($10.95) with scallion on a bed of vinaigrette salad, this was a homerun! The tuna was lightly grilled and was like butter, just melted in my mouth I don’t know how else to describe it but sushigasmic! It was recommend by the sushi chef, should have asked him for other recommendations I guess you can't go wrong with the chef.
