REVIEWS:
No where in New York can one get a meal for $2 bucks that is feeling and delicious, Yatangan Kebab House located on 104 MacDougal St New York, NY 10012, does the job. I love getting the falafel sandwiches – yes it’s only $2 bucks! Now I know some of you chapasses might think that you can get a better meal for $2 of less but it will not be as belly filling and not as tasty. A slice might do the trick but the falafel at Yatagan is filled with crunchy all vegetarian falafel balls that are deep fried, pocketed into a warm and soft pita bread with tomatoes, lettuce and tahini. So instead of my usual cheapass $2 falafel I went for a more of an extravagant and got the baba ganoush that basically an Eggplant Hummus filled with tomatoes, lettuce and tahini. Sadly I was sort of disappointed- the flavor is lacked and the tomatoes were mushy. Kenneth on the other hand is always consistent (aka boring), he got the Doner Kebab ($5.50) and it kick ass. They give you a lot of meat and the lamb was juicy, oily with a nice chard edge. The rotating hunk of meat is captivating it almost calls out to you, saying “eat me I am good and juicy”. It will hunt you while it rotates teasing all the vegans and vegetarians. No wonder Kenneth gets the same thing everytime. If only I wasn’t as cheapass as he is, I too would fall under the spell.
RANTS & RAVES:
Doner Kebab $5.50 mmm well worth it, the baba ganoush $4.00 not so hot I think I like getting this so I pronounce baba ganoush. Recommend the $2 falafel so good, for the right price! Open till 4pm for all you late night NYU kids, trying to find you next hunger fix. We want to do a falafel battle taste test between this place and the super popular Mamourn's. Which one you like better?
