As for someone who has eaten over a thousands dumplings though out my life, it goes with out saying I know a little something about them. After my post on “Good Dumpling, Bad Service” http://cheapassfood.com/eats/show/238. I was informed about Tasty Dumplings through a comment from one of our favorite loyal reader Benny B. I have seen Tasty Dumplings in many occasions while strolling by Chinatown and LES but hesitated to review due to the obnoxious signage board (as obnoxious as that may sound). But Thanks to BB I went and not too my surprise it was 2 thumbs up – way up. They have the best dumpling skin that wraps around the tiny little morsel of pork meat macerated with green onions. The shell is simple dough made of flour and water with hint of salt but they make it so light and fluffy compared to other dumping houses. Also, the pork taste slightly salty and it goes very nicely with green onions w/out ever benign too oily. Thanks SO Much Benny B I give you the 2 thumbs UP!
RANTS & RAVES:
DO NOT I repeat Do Not get the cucumber salad, I got it thinking it would be an interesting addition to my pork dumplings, however it was not the case. Basically what it was, matchstick size cucumbers mixed with some sesames seed oil + msg + Chinese vinegar. I paid $3 for a very small plate, while my 5 dumplings were only $1 and delicious.
