REVIEWS:
Never judge a book by it cover, people say, but just by the looks of Chez Brigitte you know it’s going to be good eating. This tiny restaurant is located in the West Village, so small you’ll definitely need to be on the look out for it. They offer lunch special so large it can feed two, all served with rice or potatoes and sweet peas that comes with drinks (coffee, tea or soda) all for only $7.40 not a bad deal. They also have sandwiches that range from $5-$6, their “Daube de Boeuf” other wise know as Beef Stew with Carrots was a plate full. My baguette was soaked in beautiful beef drippings, a very hearty meal fit for a hungry hunter to say the least. The large chunks of beef are marinated in a tomatoes base sauce cooked with carrots, although the carrots were MIA, possibly could have dissolved during the long hours of cooking in the pot.
RANTS & RAVES:
Back in the days (opened in 1954) it had more of French flare, but commonly one will find yellow rice and tomatoes base sauces. Seats about 7 at most but boast they are able to “serve 250 persons 11 at a time- whatever the f*** that means”.
