New Wonton Garden offers eaters great noodle soups that range from Western friendly to traditional. Kenneth and I went on a chilly night couple of days back and found our self immersed into our bowls. One of our favorite is the beef stew and wontons with noodles the best that Chinatown can offer, so Kenneth stuck to what he knows best and got the usual, I on the hand went for a twist and got my self a sweet and sour sliced pork with wonton and noodles. This was a bad, no wait a terrible idea! I thought I would get nice tender slices of deep fried pork with sweet and sour sauce a mist of wonton and noodles. I was mistaken, instead a bowl with a very sweet goopy sauce with thinly sliced pork (boiled) on top of some noodles and cold wontons, and soup came on the side. The flavor was very sweet and not sour at all, and the pork had no flavor what so ever. It was so bad I had to wash, if you will, away the sauce in my bowl of soup. I don’t recommend this dish unless you like glop of goop on your noodles that look like, sadly orange barf. Sorry folks this is the only way I can describe this mess of a dish.
RANTS & RAVES:
Sweet and Sour Chicken, Wonton with Noodles on the other hand do come out deep fried with a sweet and sour sauce also with soup on the side. This restaurant is very small do not seat next to the bathroom, it was like a revolving door one person after another, very unappetizing when you can hear someone expressing their relief as they pee. Not pretty at all!
