South American After eating at Buffalo Cantina ( located 149 Havemeyer ST. Brooklyn NY) I felt full but not just yet satisfied, so we walked across the street and had a gander at a window display. Empanada, fried pork, small sausage links, where peering through the window of a small shop, I popped in. name of the miniature cafeteria-style restaurant - no name. We got so excited and forgot to write down any information, however I have a feeling that it is South American cuisine. First up the empanada, it was a soft w/ flaky crust but not like the way Frenchies make it – it was doughier. Now, I never had empanada before so I can’t be to judgey but I thought for sure it could have been more flavorful, and moist but like I said I am a virgin empanadas eater. Thought… I like it ok. Next, was fried pork call chicharrones, the man behind the food display told me it sold out, however there was a little morsel left for us to taste, ON THE HOUSE!!!! yee ha! I near knew that fat fried in fat could be this gooood. Moist, salty, w/crusty outer shelling, no wonder beacon’s the praised meat of all time. Lastly, bite size sausages call longaniza (luckily the man spelled everything out for us), the first word that came to my mind was earthy then woodsy and then tasty, its consistency was almost like a breakfast sausage and tasted like it was smoked in the woods. Over all very goood!

To get to this no name South American shop you have to be a little bit adventures and good with directions, start out around 149 Havemeyer ST. in Brooklyn go directly across and walk toward the Passover, in about half block to 2 blocks. If anyone finds the name and the exact address please forward us the info and we’ll post it ASAP. Good Luck and happy eating.
