REVIEWS:
Taim means delicious in Hebrew, but by cheapass definition I was not sure if it would meet up to our standards. Over the past couple of months I have been reading many good things about this tiny little shop and so had to find out for myself if the rumors where true. I got the “Green” falafel, which is a traditional falafel with parsley, cilantro, mint and pickled cabbage - it was scrumptious. Each bite was perfect, a little bite of the fried falafel with tahini sauce, hummus accompanied by pickled cabbage nestled in homemade soft and fluffy pita bread was the most perfect falafel bite I’ve ever had. Well-worth the $5 price tag. The staff and owners couldn’t be nicer; they are all so accommodating and helpful especially if you’re new to Middle Eastern cuisine. Also all of their food is vegan except several items on the menu.
RANTS & RAVES:
Taim is a bit on the pricier side not so cheapass, but 5 bucks for a falafel is not unheard of, although one can get two falafels at Mamoun's for $5. Try the “Red” falafel comes with roasted red peppers or “Harissa” falafel comes with Tunisian spices (mildly spicy) Ohhh… and they make their own hot sauce, chopped red and green chili mixed w/olive oil, it really heightened my pita sandwich, hmm Taim! ***Vegan friendly (212) 691-1287
