REVIEWS:
Having Dim Sum becomes our routine weekend brunch now and last week we went to Golden Unicorn, located on East Broadway and Catherine, on the second floor. Their dim sum are good, I won’t say excellent. The (Har Kau) Shrimp Dumplings are a bit too crazy on the MSG. The pork buns are good. I like the Beef Short Ribs in Black Pepper sauce. The steamed Shrimps Rice Crepes are pretty good. The (Siu Mai) Pork Dumplings are great. I guess what bugs my appetite of this place is they have two very young looking girls (looks like they are 16 years old) working as the dim sum cart pusher. You can tell they 120% hate the job and their minds are totally elsewhere with no facial expression at all. It seems that all the hopes they have are being slowly stripped away by the endless continuous circular route of the dim sum cart. Very depressing. I have nothing against working at a very young age and save money, I did construction and janitorial works when I was 14, but the fact to see someone got their soul sucked away so young makes me very sad. In that sense, I personally prefer the Chatham Sq. Restaurant more (http://www.cheapassfood.com/eats/show/284), cheaper, better, and everybody are much more happier.
RANTS & RAVES:
They charge the Pork Spareribs in Black Bean Sauce as a Medium dish. That is ridiculous, in my 25 years of dim sum experience the dish is always a Small. Here are their prices, not necessary that cheap: Small- $2.25 Medium- $2.75 Special- $3.25 Large- $3.75 Extra Large- $4.25 $1 per person for tea, Chrysanthemum Tea $1.50 per person
