REVIEWS:
In www.urbandictionary.com a CHEAPASS is “A person who is not only cheap, but also foists his cheapness on others in irritating ways. The dude who brings TWO PBRs to a BYOB party and then drinks six pilsners is a cheapass. This is probably the same guy who doesn't want to evenly split the bill at a restaurant because your food cost $33 and his only cost $30.” This pretty much sums me up in a few lines. As I was eating my lunch today I was thinking what makes me such a cheapass, well my rent is half my paycheck which is not unusual in Manhattan, and my paycheck is nothing to brag about, trust me! But besides the fact that my paycheck is minuscule, could a nitpicky personality have a part of it as well? As I was looking over the menu at Mandoo Bar I was a bit shocked, a Goon Mandoo which is a lightly Pan-fried dumplings filled with prok and vegetables for $4.99 for 4 pieces. Um excuse me when did 4 pieces of dumpling cost that much? I mean these where not your American Big Ass dumplings you might see at walmart, no these where quite dainty looking- good but tiny. Definitely would not fill my BIG ass. So I’m looking and looking to see if anything would fill my belly for a reasonable price, and that is when I was thinking how did I come bout being such a cheapass? While I was searching it came to me that it really isn’t the restaurant that had the problem I didn’t have to sit and eat at this establishment but it was my irritating way of informing people what is out there that is what makes me a CheapAss. Imposing my self on to others, well long story short I found something that was filling and rather well priced, a bowl of Mandoo Ramen Hot noodle soup with egg, vegetables and two pieces of pork dumplings for $7.99. I thought it was well worth the effort of saving you the bucks, however the ramen was not homemade still rather tasty and all the meals come with 2 different types of radish. One dyed in yellow coloring and the other a radish kimchee.
RANTS & RAVES:
I really did enjoy myself at the Mandoo Bar and I thought the service was the best service I ever had in a Korean restaurant, which says a lot. The ambiance is nice, young and sort of hip with hip-hop music playing in the background. The Beef Fried Rice I didn’t ordered but the portions looked tiny for $8.99 I didn’t think it was worth it but then again I am a cheapAss.
