Brawta offers “big Tings” and “likkle Tings”

On this side of the fence in Boerum Hill you’re in Caribbean time, where the waves of reggae sounds washes over you and the smells of West Indies fills the air. Brawta offers “big Tings” and “likkle Tings” which is nice for those with “big Wallets” and “likkle Wallets”. I was looking for some snack to munch on so I went for couple of little bits. The patties are famous at Brawta however when I went they ran out of it, codfish cakes were next on my list so I got the 4 pieces ($3.95) and a side of rice and peas ($3.50). The cod cakes are quite small but man are they good, little gems of fried goodness with great dipping sauce that almost taste like jerk chicken stew but a little bit sweeter. The rice and peas served in heaps and has a nice heat to it.
RANTS & RAVES:
Definitely is on my comeback list, all “big tings” come with rice and peas, Brawta’s salad or steamed cabbage. I think this place is well worth checking out, they offer dishesf from seafood, goat, chicken, to Ital Stew (mélange of vegetables). Like I said earlier they are in Caribbean time, my order took a good 25 minutes for simple items.
