The quintessential Brooklyn Bridge is one of New York’s great treasures and great destination for New Yorkers and tourist alike. While day tripping across the great structure, a natural force might urge one to eat a pizza pie – Brooklyn style. Grimaidi’s located on 19 Old Fulton St. under the Brooklyn Bridge, will definitely fulfill your need as long as your belly can wait, that is. Venturing out to Grimaidis is not an easiest of destinations one would have to walk over one mile (from the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge), while other options can be by the F train getting off at York. But this is just the beginning of the little adventure; once you arrive at Grimaidis you can bet your ass there is going to be a long ass line that could possibly circle the whole block. But if you’re persistent and not too hungry it is well worth the wait and lines move fast. Just think of it as a rollercoaster ride for foodies. Once our party was given a table right away we had to make a fast yet diplomatic decision, do to fact that we were a party of 9! A pie for veggie lovers, one of meat lovers, combo and a white pie covered most if not all our basics. Grimaldi’s great coal-fired brick oven has to be one of the key ingredients for their magical pizza; every one of their pizzas came out crisp with hint smokiness. And while all were delicious here are what my personal thoughts are on some of the pies and ingredients. The white pizza was a bit of let down all it is dough, mozzarella, olive oil, and basil a bit bland for my taste but other party members seemed to like it. Have to say it was the crisper one of all four, due to lack of sauce and ingredients. Speaking of ingredients do try the roasted red peppers they come in huge chunks, great for red pepper lovers but density of the sweet peppers made each slice moist and soggy. The perfect pie we ordered was the meat and veggie combo, the pepperoni is divine with a bit of kick, while the onions were sweet adding another layer of complexity, and mushrooms absorbed all the flavors of the pie. It was one of the most perfect pizzas one could doctor up.

Now a pizza wouldn’t be a pizza with out beer and luckily Grimaldi’s has bottle beers for $4 and other refreshments. Take out line is the same as the dinning in line, sorry folks first come first served!
