REVIEWS:
Vanessa’s Dumpling formerly known as Dumpling House, is still good? Was a question I had to ask myself when I noticed that Dumpling House was no longer the great dive I used to know. This was the hot spot where all the LES hipsters called it their second home. Where one order of pork dumplings would get you 5 and sesame pancake sandwiches that was recognized to be a cure for hangovers. Lucky for us not much has changed, the menu is a little bigger, the prices are more or less the same, but to a watchful observer, one can tell that one dumpling is missing in each order. Previously it was 5 for $1 now a chive and pork fried dumpling is 4 for $1, but times have changed, most dumpling eateries charge $1-$3.50 depending on the hood. The rule of thumb is, the further you are from C-town the pricier it gets. Perfect example would be rickshaw dumpling bar located in Chelsea (Six for $5.55 or Nine for $7.77) and Mandoo Bar located in Midtown (10pcs $7.99) so really I can’t complain. It’s comforting to know that the food is still good and cheap, now I can sleep at night knowing that all the hipsters can buy their $300 Marc by Marc Jacob handbag while getting a little din.
