REVIEWS:
SOY is a little cute neighborhood gem hidden in Lower East Side serving some simple and healthy Japanese home cooking. Don’t expect Sushi or Kobe beef here SOY only serves traditional home dishes such as Nikujaga (one of the most popular meat-potato dishes in Japan) and Gomoku-mame (simmered soy beans and various vegetable). With a healthy menu of extensive vegetarian and soy-based dishes it takes some time for us to decide what to get. The Potato & Beef Croquette ($1.50) and Soy Croquette ($1.50) are excellent; crunchy surface with creamy and delicious fillings. The Ginger Pork ($8.25)- Thin sliced pork with ginger sauce, served with cooked cabbages are distinctively simple in taste without leaving you an excessive marinated palette. The Spicy Tuna & Avocado Bowl ($8.25)- Raw spicy tuna & avocado slices over sushi rice have a slight hint of spiciness with great ingredients. Everything taste like you are in you friends’ house enjoying their Moms cooking.
RANTS & RAVES:
